25-APR-2016 Rider LogThe initial day of the ride, my goal was to get as far away from really miserable weather as possible. I started out on I-95 through the Baltimore Beltway, a relatively un-scenic route other than going over the bridge in Maryland as I entered Harve de Grace. I'vwe been on this road so many times for work I couldn't express how familiar I really was with this road.

After the tunnels, i went westbound on I-70, then MD-240, finally hitting the mountain highway corridor, I-81 South. This is always a scenic route, as I've been on this road before. This is where I did most of my speed-riding, as I knew from the start, day 1 was going to be the farthest I would ride from any given day during the trip.
After hours of hugging the West Virgina - Virginia border, I crossed over into western North Carolina. Continuing to dart down, I made it to the virtual end of I-81, as it turned into I-40, where I headed westbound to Knoxville, where I spend the night.
